Urban Oasis: A Harmonious Living Environment

Residential Apartment Designed by Ya Chieh Lin and Shih Feng Chiu

This residential apartment, designed by Ya Chieh Lin and Shih Feng Chiu, is a testament to the idea that our living environment should interact with us and echo our way of living. The designers have carefully considered the personal characters of the residents and embedded them in the space.

One of the unique features of this design is the flow in the space, which provides the essential link between the residents' personal characters. The selection of various textures and patterns of metal and stone materials, along with vibrant color choices for the furniture, enriches the space and reflects the residents' individual tastes and styles.

The warm and cheerful lighting is subtly integrated throughout the apartment, further energizing the space and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Each space has its own identity, making a statement about the owner.

The design team also found innovative ways to incorporate technology into the space. They designed the walls to display audio speakers, providing both functionality and aesthetics.

The apartment spans 212.5 square meters and features a rearranged space distribution. An intermediary corridor serves as a neutral space and a junction where the lives and different personalities of the family members engage.

Despite the challenges posed by a relatively low ceiling height and multiple beams, the designers elevated part of the ceiling and added an open cell timber structure in between the steps. This not only visually raised and extended the ceiling but also created a unique design element.

The Urban Oasis project demonstrates the designers' commitment to creating a living environment that reflects the residents' lifestyle and personal characters. By incorporating their way of living into the interior, the design fosters a harmonious and engaging atmosphere.

This project, which started in March 2015 and was completed in February 2016, is located in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
